UAE Public Holidays 2014 Calendar
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) culture is strongly influenced by the religion of Islam, Bedouin and traditional Arab culture. Hence, most of the UAE public holidays 2014 are made of Islamic festivals.
Aside from Islamic festivals, the UAE also celebrating International New Years Day – on January 1st. Take a note that only few Islamic countries in the middle east that celebrating this festival. This is due to the UAE’s reputation as an advanced country with strong international trade relationship with many countries around the world.
The UAE introduce 5 working days for governmental staffs in the country in 1998, while the private sector companies are free to determine their working days and holidays. Fridays and Saturdays are considered weekend for civil servants since September 2006. Still, the UAE government let private sector companies choose their own holidays as well as the length of the holidays / festivals.
