Tioman Island has over 20 captivating dive locations all around the island, some an easy swimming distance from a beach, others only a short boat ride away, like Chebah Island, just 20 minutes away from Salang Village by boat. Along Chebah Island you can dive through tunnels, into and out of caves, and around massive rock formations where you’ll discover soft coral, vibrantly colored reef fish, along with everyone’s favorite; manta rays. Just west of Tioman is Mulang Rock where you’ll find leopard sharks in the deep waters as well as stingray’s, barracuda, lion and trigger fish and more.

Snorkeling
Snorkeling is basically fantastic from most of the island’s many beaches, and the resorts are delighted to ferry visitors to outlying islands and coral gardens nearby as well. Some of the best snorkeling in the area can be enjoyed on Pulau Tulai (aka Coral Island) and Renggis Island. Air Batang is one of the best villages for snorkeling, as it has a shallow reef brimming with all sorts of amazing fish and coral. Definitely worth visiting is ABC (Ayer Batang), where on either side of the jetty you can swim with turtles over a garden of yellow coral.

Jungle Trekking
With most of the actual growth on Tioman Island taking place along the coast, the uncontaminated rainforest that blankets Tioman’s mountainous interior landscapes remains untouched and the perfect place to spend the day jungle trekking. There are a number of jungle trails that interweave along the coast connecting modest fishing villages, while additional paths lead away from the them into the breathtaking mountains, complete with scenic look outs and stunning waterfalls. One of the most challenging hikes takes about 2 to 4 hours, taking you from Tekek to Juara. If you’re up for a challenging hike this one is well worth it as you’ll be surrounded by the islands beautiful rainforest, home to monitor lizards, parrots, monkeys and more. You’ll also come across tranquil streams and gorgeous waterfalls. The hike can also be experienced by 4 wheel drive vehicles or bicycles.

Rock Climbing
Experienced rock climbers can scale Tioman’s awe inspiring twin peaks referred to as the dragon’s horns, or endeavor to take on Tioman’s highest peak; Gunung Kajang. You can hire local guides to make the experience a bit easier or even sign up for 3 day climbing tours.

The Beaches
Tioman is known for its magnificent beaches which are scattered all over the island, the perfect places to relax, unwind and work on your tan. You can also take one of the many beach side jungle trails and explore the area, catching sight of the island’s diverse wildlife from birds to monkeys and monitor lizards. There’s nothing like watching the sunset from one the local beaches, enjoying an ice cold beverages at one of the beach front restaurants; a lovely experience. Other than the jungle trek that leads from Tekek to Juara, there aren’t any other roads or even cars on the island so if you want to check out all the Island’s beaches you’ll need to take a sea taxi or island ferry.
