When is Start of Ramadan 2013?
As usually, the beginning of Ramadan will be determined by moon sightings so the exact first day on the Gregorian calendar is not announced until several days before the date. It is estimated that for 2013, the first day of Ramadan will fall on Tuesday July 9th and in 2014 it is estimated to fall on Saturday June 28th.
Start of Ramadan 2013 in UAE
In the United Arab Emirates, the first day of Ramadan 2013 is considered a public holiday and as such, schools, businesses and government offices are closed. Because the first day of Ramadan is also the first day of the Muslim fasting month, all cafes and restaurants are closed during the day, but open back up after dark. Another thing that happens during Ramadan is that school hours are reduced and office working hours are reduced in order to make it easier for those fasting from daylight to dark during the Ramadan fasting month in Dubai and UAE.
